What is Supper Swap?

Supper swap began out of necessity. We are three busy stay at home moms who at the end of the day realized planning what to have for dinner that night, prepping the ingredients, cooking and serving dinner all with kids hanging off our legs wasn't our idea of a relaxing evening. We heard another friend in Northern California was involved in a "supper swap" and were immediately interested in finding out more information. Basically there are many ways to run a supper swap. First, find a few other families who live near you and share the basic same idea about cooking as you do. For example: Does organic matter? Are you a vegetarian? Are you kosher? Would you prefer hormone free meats? Next, organize how you will be delivering your meals each week. Will you take turns driving? Will you meet at a park to swap? Finally....get to cooking. Our swap works with three families. We each pick a different night of the week and make one meal enough to feed all three families and we personally deliver them to each other's door steps. So on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays we are guaranteed to have a fresh, homemade dinner all ready to go for our families. The more prep work you can do for the other families the better. Almost always we have plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day or dinner the next night. They say it takes a village to raise your children....I think it takes a village to be a great Mother. We have gone through many ups and downs together in our meal swaps, losing loved ones, sick kiddos, new babies, husbands out of town and through it all we have had amazing meals waiting in the background to serve up to our families. Where would we be without each other? Probably scrambling in the kitchen at 5pm wondering what to make the family for dinner and trying to justify eating mac-n-cheese for three nights in a row. Now, you can find us at 5pm with our feet propped up, a glass of wine in one hand and bon bons in the other....at least that's what it feels like and that's the important part!
